筆者について
2001年、親の仕事の都合でフランスに生まれ、その後日本へ帰国。
その後は中学受験をキッカケに、立命館中学校・高等学校を経て、立命館大学政策科学部へ進学。
大学では所属したゼミでの一環として「note」で記事を書き始めました。
当初は卒業論文に関する内容を発信するためのツールでしたが、優秀な周りの友人達と差別化する為に「毎日投稿」を１年間続けることを決意し、400日連続投稿を達成しました。
卒業後は、この経験を糧にして「より多くの人に役立つ情報を発信したい」という思いから、このWordPressサイトを立ち上げました。
現在の仕事
現在は京都にあるロックバー 「ROCK BAR JAM HOUSE」 でバーテンダーとして働いています。
日本にある日本人のみが働いているバーとしては珍しく、お客様の８割が海外から日本を訪れた旅行者です。
毎日さまざまな国の方と会話をする中で、
「京都でおすすめのバーは？」
「日本でこれは食べた方がいい？」
「観光するならどこがおすすめ？」
といった質問を受けることがよくあります。
ブログのカテゴリにある「Japan Guide」と「Life in Japan」を書くことにしたのはこれらがキッカケ。
仕事中に得られる実際の会話や経験も活かしながら記事を作成しています。
もちろん日本人の方も大歓迎。

About Me
Hi, I’m Newton, a Japanese bartender based in Kyoto.
I work at ROCK BAR JAM HOUSE, a long-running music bar where many of our guests are travelers from overseas.
Every week, I meet people from different countries and hear all kinds of questions about Japan.

「What should I eat?」
「How do Japanese bars work?」
「Where can I meet local people?」
「What parts of Japanese culture are difficult for visitors to understand?」
These conversations were the biggest inspiration behind creating this website, where I share practical guides to help travelers from around the world discover Japan.
What Makes My Website Unique
Japan is full of amazing places, food, culture, and experiences.
At the same time, some things can be confusing if you are visiting for the first time.
A lot of useful information is available online, but it is not always written from the perspective of someone who actually lives in Japan and regularly speaks with international travelers.
Through this website, I want to share practical and honest information that can make your time in Japan easier, more enjoyable, and more memorable.
This website is organized into six main categories. My English articles mainly fall into the following two categories:
Japan Guide
Recommendations for bars, restaurants, sightseeing spots, and other places worth visiting in Japan.
I mainly focus on Kyoto, but I also share information about other parts of Japan when I have something useful to say.
Life in Japan
Simple explanations of Japanese culture, customs, daily life, and the small differences that may surprise visitors.
Many of these articles are inspired by questions I have been asked while working behind the bar.
What You Can Expect From This Website
I value real experiences more than copied information.
The places I introduce are generally places I have visited myself, and my articles are based on what I have actually seen, heard, and experienced.
I do not want this website to feel like a generic travel guide.
My goal is to share the kind of information you might receive from a local person after sitting down together and having a conversation.
Sometimes that means recommending a famous place.
Sometimes it means introducing a small bar, restaurant, or experience that may not appear in every guidebook.
A Little More About Me
I was born in France in 2001 because of my parents’ work and later grew up in Japan.
I began writing while I was at university.
What started as a simple academic project gradually became a daily habit, and I eventually completed 400 consecutive days of posting.
After graduating, I created this website because I wanted to turn that habit into something more useful and meaningful.
Writing allows me to share what I have learned through travel, work, conversations, and everyday life.

One unusual thing about this website is that you can actually meet the person writing it.
I work at ROCK BAR JAM HOUSE in Kyoto, where travelers and local regulars come together over music and drinks.
You do not need to be a rock expert, and solo travelers are always welcome.
